Rickey C. Miles

Rickey C. Miles is Director of Modernization and Development for the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District.  Mr. Miles has been employed by HABD for nearly 10 years, previously holding the positions of Construction Inspector and Modernization Construction Manager.

Rickey is a native of Birmingham, Alabama graduated from Tuskegee University in 1986 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Science.  Two years later after working for two Birmingham Architects, Rickey returned to school to obtain his Bachelor of Architecture Degree.

Rickey has been involved in over $100,000,000.00 in Modernization Construction Projects since joining HABD.  Five of these projects were complete renovations of large Public Housing Developments including:

vSouthtown (455 units)    $12,700,000.00
vHarris Homes (200 units)$14,000,000.00

Rickey is also responsible for overseeing daily activities of the $35,000,000.00 Metropolitan Gardens Hope VI Project, when complete will be Alabama's first major Mix-Income Mix-Finance Community.

Prior to joining HABD in 1992, Rickey worked with several small and large Architectural Firms including David Jones & Associates and Brown Design Associates.  Rickey was involved with several notable projects including:

Rickey is a member of several professional and community based organizations including the American Institute of Architects, Southern Building Code Congress and Birmingham Crime Prevention in Housing Task Force.

Rickey is married to the former Justine J. Grey of Birmingham, Alabama.  The couple does not have any children and lives in the Glen Iris Neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama.
