Mr. Robert L. Brown Jr., is President and Chief Executive Officer of R.L. Brown & Associates, Inc.,
one of Georgia's top architectural firms. Mr. Brown is also Chair of the Fulton-DeKalb Hosptial Authority and Past Chair of the Georgia State Board of Corrections. In 1999, Mr.Brown was elevated to the America Institute of Architect's pretigious College of Fellows, an honor accorded to members who have made contributions of national significance to the profession.
Mr. Brown, a native Dublin, Georgia, graduated from Tuskegee University, Magna Cum Laude, where he earned two degrees in Architecture. Mr. Brown was a recipient of the President Luther H. Foster Award, and received the Alumnus of the Year in Architecture in 1989, from Tuskegee University where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Campus Digest. Robert is also listed in Who's Who in American Colleges & Universities.
Prior to forming R.L. Brown & Associates, Inc.,in 1984, Robert worked with small and large architectural firms, as well as construction firms throughout his professional career, and has been widely involved in state and local civic activities.
Chosen by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce as the "Small Business Person of the Year" (1996) and "Entrepreneur of the Year" by the Atlanta Business League and Women Looking Ahead, Inc., Robert is well known to the business community across the State of Georgia through his work as an Architect and civic leader. He is a board member of the Citzen Trust Bank, and the Georgia Hospital Association. Brown serves as a member of the board of directors for Wesley Woods Geriatic Hospital, and is Past President of DeKalb Historical Society Board of Trustees. Mr. Brown received the "Dr. Gunar N. Bohan Award" for outstanding Volunteer Services from the DeKalb Board of Health, and has received several honors from non-profits organization for contributing services. He is a member of the DeKalb Rotary, Leadership DeKalb, Leadership Georgia, and the Regional Leadership Foundation, Inc. In 2003, Robert will serve as Chair of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Brown is intensely dedicated to education and is on the Board of Trustees of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation, Inc., and the Georgia Early Learning Initiative. He is a member of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International, and is District Chairman, Soapstone Ridge District, Boy Scouts of America.
Robert is married to the former Barbara Willis of Birmingham, Alabama. The couples has two children --Robert L. Brown,III and Robyn Denise rown, and lives in Lithonia, Georgia.
